"Green Pesticides" Artemisinin

The scientists of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences isolated a unique component of glumesin, which has a unique anti-feeding activity, from common vegetables such as Artemisia halodendron. In the international community, for the first time, a new synthetic method was used to artificially synthesize a group of phthalein-based compounds, which were rejected by the domestic diet. The authoritative research unit of South China Agricultural University tested that the synthetic anti-feeding rate of this kind of synthetic artemisinin against vegetable pests such as Pieris rapae was better than other existing pesticides. The synthesis of artemisinin will open new ways for China to produce pollution-free green pesticides and promote vegetable production.
