Macrophages work as brain "cleaners"

It is known that Alzheimer's disease is associated with accumulation of abnormal fibrin deposits in the brain of a patient. A new study in Germany shows that some special macrophages produced by the body's own immune system can play the role of “cleaners” in this regard.

Researchers at the Shalitay University Hospital Berlin and Freiburg University Hospital in Germany reported in a new issue of the American Journal of Neuroscience that after 10 years of animal studies, they found that certain macrophages produced in the bone marrow could be degraded and cleared.
