In January-September 2012, the export volume of agricultural products of the agricultural grain sector in Belarus amounted to 2.148 billion U.S. dollars.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus stated that in 2012 Belarus’s agricultural exports will reach 5 billion U.S. dollars. The minister stated that the export potential has obviously increased. In January-September 2012, Belarus’ agricultural grain sector alone exported 2.148 billion U.S. dollars worth of agricultural products, and the foreign trade surplus amounted to 1.376 billion U.S. dollars, which was more than US$ 71 million. The Minister firmly believes that in 2012, the agricultural products of the Belarusian agro-industrial complex will have an export volume of 5 billion U.S. dollars. As of October 29, 2012, 157,000 hectares of crops were still unharvested, including 127,000 hectares of corn, 18,500 hectares of beets, and 1,000 hectares of vegetables. Harvesting of corn silage is expected to be completed on November 1st and harvesting of corn grain and sugar beet will be completed on November 7th. In addition, harvesting work in other areas has been completed except in Minsk where potato harvesting is about to be completed.
