Polish scientists create artificial heart function models with 3D printing

For the entire 3D printing world, a fully functional 3D printing heart is the holy grail of the world, and now scientists in the control department of the University of Military Technology in Warsaw have taken another step towards the Holy Grail.

It is reported that the university from Poland is studying the use of augmented reality and artificial neural network technology to create a complete and functional heart chamber. Dr. Krzysztof Murawski, Dr. Leszek Grad, Dr. Artur Archiuch, and Professor Pustelny from the Department of Optoelectronics at the University of the University of Silesian (Silesian University of Technology) brought together their common wisdom to create this artificial heart function model with silicone and rubber.
 
It seems that the heart they eventually made is a bit like a pipe or valve device, but the most important thing is that the model can be used for analysis and testing. It is said that the final version will definitely look very different from this prototype.

According to Tiangong, the research team has made a full attempt using the Zortrax M200 3D printer, and used this 3D printer to create a variety of different models to test their theory. It is reported that all parts of this artificial heart model, including blood chamber, air chamber and valve, are made by 3D printing technology. Among them, the blood chamber and the air chamber are directly printed in 3D, and the valve is made of the correct shape by using a 3D printed mold with silica gel.

Because the researchers were able to power each of the chambers of the artificial heart, they were able to continually improve and get better results.
 
Currently, researchers mainly use the 3D printed heart model to validate the scientific hypothesis and conduct a large number of experimental studies, which will help increase the safety of future artificial hearts. Compared to the off-the-shelf models on the market, the 3D printed heart model allows the research team to save a lot of money and conduct more extensive research.
