One third of men will have prostate or prostate disease

It is estimated that one in every three men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer or prostate lesions during his lifetime. In Europe, there are approximately 346,000 new cases of prostate cancer and 87,000 cases of prostate cancer deaths each year.

According to estimates by the American Cancer Society, approximately 218,000 people were diagnosed with prostate cancer in the United States in 2010, and 32,000 people died. Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men. 27.6% of men newly diagnosed with cancer are prostate cancer, and 10.7% of men with cancer-related deaths die of prostate cancer. It is estimated that one in every three men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer or prostate lesions during his lifetime. In Europe, there are approximately 346,000 new cases of prostate cancer and 87,000 cases of prostate cancer deaths each year.

We have been studying the link between inflammation and cancer for a long time, but we still know very little about it. In 1863, Rudolf Virchow first reported the link between tumor tissue and inflammatory white blood cells. Recent studies have shown that approximately 20% of human cancers are caused by chronic infections or chronic inflammation. Prominent examples of this phenomenon include chronic gastritis, hepatitis, prostatitis, or colitis, all of which increase the risk of cancer in the corresponding organ. About 30% of patients with colorectal cancer have enteritis, and about 18% of prostate cancer patients have prostate inflammation.

Chronic or recurrent inflammation leads to the development of many human cancers, including cancers of the liver, esophagus, stomach, large intestine, and bladder. Inflammation may affect the pathogenesis of cancer: 1) cause cell and genetic damage; 2) trigger cell proliferation instead of being affected Damaged cells; 3) cytokine combinations that promote cell replication, angiogenesis, and tissue repair.

In response to infection, inflammatory cells produce a variety of toxic compounds designed to eliminate microorganisms, including peroxides, hydrogen peroxide, singlet oxygen, and nitric oxide, which can further form highly active peroxynitrates. These active substances can alter the structure and function of proteins, cause lipid peroxidation and induce somatic genetic changes.

In the different stages of development of the tumor, the inflammatory response plays a crucial role, including occurrence, development, malignant transformation, invasion and metastasis. Several studies have pointed out that prostatitis is an important role in the development of prostate cancer, although the contribution of inflammation to benign prostate cancer is not fully understood. Basic and clinical research attempts to understand the etiology and signaling pathways of prostatitis in order to help develop new therapeutic interventions.
